Beau

See his video on YouTube.

This handsome and athletic smooth collie/border collie mix is named "Beau."  He is 5 months old (born in March) and a rather independent kind of guy.  He was the first pup in the litter to grab a toy and take off running.  He was also the first pup in the litter to have enough coordination to run at all.  And he enjoys the outdoorsy kinds of activities.  He would make a fabulous bolder Boulder dog with a masculine bandana around his neck and a hiker for a best friend.  This pooch is smart and quick to learn new skills.  He could easily be the Alpha pup in the litter but it is not his style.  He will sit for a biscuit and take it gently from your hand.  And he eats like there is no tomorrow.  Each morning as I let them out of their exercise pen, Beau is the first pup to look me square in the face and announce, "Where is my breakfast, please?"  And my response is always the same, "Were you growing again overnight?  Look at those feet!"

Beau was born in the guest bathroom of our Director, completely unexpectedly, after his mom arrived from Kansas .  Because the mom's name is Tara , our semi-wackie Director thought the dogs should be named after 'Gone with the Wind' characters.  Hence the name of 'Beau.'  He has had his first two sets of puppy vaccines and been wormed once.  He will have all the rest of his vet care done at our expense and we will arrange for it to be done nearby his adopter and this will include his neuter and Home Again microchip.  A puppy in your house can be the most wonderful experience or areal nightmare depending upon your family situation and your willingness to follow the necessary steps.  Pups are not born housebroken in any sense of the word.  There is a wonderful book by the Monks of New Skete called 'The Art of Raising a Puppy' that has a lot of good information and there are many more sources available in local bookstores.  Many of these books will contradict each other, so use your good sense to sort through all the material and find what works for you.  The primary thing to remember is all interaction must be positive.  The old wives' tale about pushing a puppy's face in a potty mistake is not nice and it will not help.  You did not do that with your children so don't do it to your pup!

Beau is smart and thoughtful.  He would be a wonderful companion to an active family with an adult dog that would take Beau under his or her wing and teach him everything a dog should know.  He enjoys the company of all of the dogs at his foster family's home and will be found sharing a dog bed with one of the other dogs often.  I keep saying that Beau is a gentleman.  And it is true.  He has nice manners for a young puppy and enjoys his snuggle time as much as his play time.  He deserves what all of our dogs want….affection, attention, good food and loving people to share his life with.  Could you be the right family for him?  If you think you might be, please go to our website and read through the adoption information section.  Our online application is in the same link.  If you still believe that Beau is meant to be part of your family, please fill out the application with as much detail as possible and hit SUBMIT.  One of our volunteers will get back to you and have a meaningful chat and we will move forward from there.

Beau thanks you for checking him out.  He has a big smile on his darling little face.
